Did You Hurt Your Head While at Work?

What are the effects of a head injury?

If an object strikes an individual's head, or if an individual falls from an elevated area, or if they are involved in a job-related vehicular accident, their skull will suddenly stop moving, but their brain will not. This is because the brain floats in cerebrospinal fluid inside the skull, and with the sudden impact of a head injury, the brain will remain in motion but the skull will not, causing the two to forcefully collide.

Regardless of how minor your head injury may seem, it is important to seek medical attention right away. Although signs may not be evident from the moment you sustained your injury, ignoring a head injury could lead to more serious and lasting consequences.

Some of the common signs that you may have sustained a work-related head injury include:

  • Changes in behavior
  • Extreme headaches
  • Memory loss or forgetfulness
  • Mood swings
